“Musical sunshine from a multi-talented and multi-instrumental duo!”
Mambo Jambo – a joyous whirlwind of roots music!
A truly unique duo, performing their upbeat mash up of roots styles, with elements of roots, jazz, world and folk – plus bluegrass! A real Jamboree! Along with their own songs the evening may contain New Orleans Gumbo Stew (for which they’ll need the audience’s help!), bluegrass banjo, French accordion waltzes, funky and percussive sambas, Cuban ballads, some jump-jive sax and balkan clarinet.; A fabulous musical treat is in store wherever they roll up, their tour bus packed to the brim with instruments. Pete on guitar, banjo, vocals, accordion, Cuban tres, ukulele, and Frankie on sax, vocals, clarinet, flute, & between them all kinds of percussion including suitcase and spoons!
Pete and Frankie have appeared on various BBC Local Radio shows, the BBC Symphony for Yorkshire and MTV Asia, and have been gathering admirers at shows and festivals in the UK, Europe and internationally. They’ve played gigs in Havana, toured France, Ireland and Sweden, and festivals in Shetland, Borneo, France and Portugal.
Come and join Pete and Frankie of Mambo Jambo for a family music workshop at Dunoon Burgh Hall, Sun 15th April
Together we’ll be making music: playing percussion (provided), body percussion, singing & rapping, in a fun & relaxed atmosphere! Recommended ages between 4 and 8 and their grown-ups. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm! Lots of fun for all the family! (Each child/ group of children to be accompanied by an adult). “Thoroughly enjoyable and engaging”
